About this project
The Olivera nursery school building is U-shaped with all the classrooms encircling a large central courtyard. A lot of natural light enters the interior of the building from the courtyard. Initially, various trees were planted in the yard, but because of the shallow ground, they failed to take root. As a result, the need arose for a covered space that offered sun protection to the children.
A large pergola made of polished and painted 12 x 10 m laminated spruce wood was constructed. It was equipped with a motor-driven slider that can be retracted and deployed with a single click, depending on the need. The fabric is breathable and fireproof, letting the air flow under the pergola.
